monkyi 涵

Julia YH (monkyi, formerly fpmonkey) is a Chinese-Canadian muralist and visual artist from Toronto, with years of experience living and creating abroad. As a natural explorer and inspired by all ranges of life, Julia’s expressions are richly diverse, exploring different concepts, connections and narratives. She creates intuitively with a focus on linework and bold colours, and often falls into the styles of pop surrealism, visionary art and street art. Her work is infused with elements of her Chinese culture, reflecting her continuous journey of reconnecting with her heritage. In Toronto, she has worked with StART Street Art Toronto, Steps Public Art, as well as a number of local BIAs and businesses. Outside of art, Julia is an anthropology graduate and is certified in Montessori education.
